Bicycle rental – Skjolden – Sognefjord

Skjolden serves as an excellent starting point for cycling trips to several nearby attractions.

We are located at the entrance to the two valleys Mørkridsdalen and Fortunsdalen, and at the beginning of “The Romantic Road”, which follows the fjord towards Urnes.

Choose between our different bicycle models

Standard / Normal bike: Often called a hybrid bike because it performs well on both asphalt and gravel roads.
Recommended for most riders and the trips described further down this page.
Model available: DBS Allround 8.

E-bike: Well suited for both asphalt and gravel roads.
Recommended for longer trips such as to Urnes, or for those wanting a more relaxed ride with more energy left to enjoy the views.
Model available: Trek UM3+.

Children’s bikes: 20″ and 24″ terrain bikes, suitable for children from approx. 7–8 years and older
(detailed sizing in the chart below).

City-bike: Robust with 7 gears, best suited for flat asphalt roads.
A nice and affordable option for exploring Skjolden’s town center and close surroundings. Not very suited for climbing hills.
Equipped with a front handbrake (left lever) and rear pedal brake.

NB: Additional bicycle lights are needed for trips on the Romantic Road. Please ask for a light upon pickup if you plan to cycle this route.

Size Guide:

Choosing the right bike size makes your ride more comfortable, safer, and more enjoyable.
Our bikes come in several frame sizes and in both Male and Unisex (step-through) frames.

General Advice
  • If you are inexperienced, or prefer to reach the ground with your feet when stopping, choose the smaller size when you fall between two sizes.

  • Unisex frames are easier to mount/dismount and a good choice for riders unsure about their skill level.

  • Heights below are only recommendations — comfort, flexibility, and your previous experience matter just as much as centimeters.
