How can I book a tour or rent equipment?
You can easily book our tours and equipment rentals directly through our online booking system.
We recommend booking in advance, especially during the busy summer season and on cruise ship arrival days, as availability can be limited.
For private tours, group bookings, or special requests, please contact us at booking@adventuretours.no.
Can I book a private or customized tour?
Absolutely! We offer private RIB adventures, customized fjord excursions, private transfers, and guided biking and hiking experiences.
Whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or a larger group, we’ll be happy to help you plan an experience suited to your interests.
Private tours are subject to availability and separate pricing. Please contact us at booking@adventuretours.no for inquiries and arrangements.
What if my preferred tour or departure time is fully booked?
If your preferred tour or departure time is fully booked, feel free to contact us!
We may be able to add you to our notification list and inform you if additional departures or spaces become available.
Please note that additional departures cannot be guaranteed, particularly on busy cruise ship arrival days.
Can I book a tour if I’m arriving by cruise ship?
Yes! We regularly welcome guests arriving in Skjolden by cruise ship.
Our meeting point at Skjolden Marina is conveniently located approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the cruise terminal.
We recommend booking in advance and ensuring that your chosen tour fits comfortably within your ship’s arrival and departure schedule.
Please note that some tours and departures may be reserved exclusively for cruise line excursions and may not be available for direct booking.
What is your cancellation policy?
For bookings made directly with Adventure Tours Norway, our standard cancellation policy is:
- 7 days or more before departure: Full refund.
- 6–3 days before departure: 50% refund.
- Less than 3 days before departure: No refund.
Bookings made through cruise lines, travel agents, or third-party platforms may be subject to different cancellation conditions.
We also offer optional Booking Protection for certain unexpected travel disruptions. Please see our Booking Protection section for more information.
BOOKING PROTECTION
What is Booking Protection?
Booking Protection is an optional add-on offered by Adventure Tours Norway for NOK 50 per person.
It provides additional protection for certain unexpected travel disruptions that prevent you from attending your booked activity, subject to our Booking Protection terms and conditions.
You can add Booking Protection when making your reservation through our online booking system.
What does Booking Protection cover?
Booking Protection covers the following circumstances:
- Cruise ship cancellation: Your cruise ship’s scheduled call to Skjolden is cancelled.
- Unexpected cruise itinerary changes: Your cruise ship changes its itinerary, preventing you from attending your booked activity.
- Official road closures: An unexpected road closure by the relevant authorities prevents you from reaching Skjolden for your scheduled activity.
These circumstances must be verified and are subject to our Booking Protection terms and conditions.
What does Booking Protection NOT cover?
Booking Protection applies only to the specific travel disruptions listed in our coverage conditions. It does not cover:
- Personal cancellations or changes of plans, including deciding not to participate in the booked activity.
- Illness, injury, or other personal circumstances that prevent you from attending.
- Late arrival or missed departures due to personal delays or travel arrangements.
- Changes in weather or personal preferences, unless Adventure Tours Norway cancels the activity for safety reasons.
- Other travel disruptions that are not specifically included in the Booking Protection coverage.
Booking Protection is not travel insurance and does not replace personal travel insurance.
Please note that the NOK 50 Booking Protection fee is non-refundable.
How much does Booking Protection cost?
Booking Protection costs NOK 50 per person and is available as an optional add-on during the booking process.

Is Booking Protection the same as travel insurance?
No. Booking Protection is an optional service offered by Adventure Tours Norway for specific travel disruptions. It is not travel insurance and does not replace personal travel insurance.
We recommend that all guests have appropriate travel insurance covering illness, accidents, travel delays, and other unforeseen circumstances.
What should I do if my cruise is cancelled or I cannot reach Skjolden?
Please contact us at booking@adventuretours.no as soon as possible and include your booking reference and details of the disruption.
We may request supporting documentation, such as confirmation from your cruise operator or relevant authorities, to verify the circumstances.
Our team will review your request in accordance with the applicable Booking Protection terms and conditions.

Are your RIB adventures safe?
Absolutely! Safety is our highest priority at Adventure Tours Norway.
All our RIB drivers are certified and hold the necessary qualifications. Before departure, guests receive a safety briefing, and we provide flotation suits and life jackets.
Our RIB adventures are designed to offer an exciting yet comfortable way to experience the breathtaking scenery of the Sognefjord.
Do your tours operate in rainy weather?
Yes! Our RIB adventures operate in both sunshine and rain. After all, a little Norwegian weather is part of the adventure!
We only cancel tours when weather conditions are considered unsafe, such as severe storms or extremely poor visibility.
For biking and hiking activities, we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather, as trails may be wet or muddy.
If Adventure Tours Norway cancels your activity due to unsafe weather conditions, you will receive a full refund.
What should I wear or bring for my adventure?
What to bring depends on your chosen activity:
- RIB Adventures: We provide warm flotation suits and life jackets. We recommend comfortable clothing, suitable footwear, and an extra warm layer on cooler days.
- Bike & Hike: Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. Bring a water bottle and a light waterproof jacket.
- Bicycle & E-bike Rentals: Wear comfortable cycling clothes and suitable footwear. We recommend bringing water and dressing according to the weather.
- Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP): Bring suitable clothing, a towel, and a change of clothes. Flotation suits and aqua shoes may be available to rent upon arrival if needed.
Norwegian weather can change quickly, so we always recommend dressing in layers.
Are there any age or physical requirements?
Age and physical requirements vary depending on the activity:
- RIB Adventures: Minimum age is 4 years. Guests must be physically able to safely board and disembark from the RIB boat.
- Guided Biking Tours: Minimum age is 8 years. Participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle independently.
- Bicycle Rentals: We offer different bicycle sizes, including children’s bikes, subject to availability.
Our RIB flotation suits are available in sizes up to 3XL.
If you have concerns about mobility, physical requirements, or whether an activity is suitable for you or your children, please contact us before booking.
Do I need previous experience to join your activities?
No previous experience is required for most of our activities!
For RIB adventures, our experienced guides will provide all necessary safety instructions before departure.
For biking activities, participants should already know how to ride a bicycle and feel comfortable cycling independently.
Our team will be happy to help you choose an activity that matches your experience and comfort level.
Can I rent bicycles, e-bikes, or stand-up paddleboards without a guide?
Yes! We offer self-guided equipment rentals for guests who prefer to explore Skjolden at their own pace.
Our rental options include standard bicycles, e-bikes, children’s bicycles, and stand-up paddleboards (SUP).
We can also recommend scenic routes and places to explore around Skjolden.
All rentals are subject to availability, and we recommend booking in advance during the summer season.
How do I choose the right bicycle size?
Choosing the right bicycle size is important for a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
Our recommended bike sizes are based on rider height, but your comfort, flexibility, and cycling experience should also be considered.
If you’re between two sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size if you’re less experienced or prefer to have your feet closer to the ground when stopping.
Unisex frames are also a great option for riders who prefer easier mounting and dismounting.

Can I bring my phone or camera during the tour?
Of course! We encourage you to capture the beautiful scenery and unforgettable moments during your adventure.
For RIB adventures, we recommend using a secure strap or waterproof case to protect your phone or camera from water and accidental drops.
Please note that personal belongings are brought at your own risk.

What is Adventure Tours Norway?
Adventure Tours Norway is a locally operated adventure company based in Skjolden, at the innermost part of the spectacular Sognefjord in Western Norway.
We offer a variety of outdoor experiences, including guided RIB adventures, biking and hiking tours, private excursions, and equipment rentals.
Our adventures take place primarily around the beautiful Lustrafjord, but we also offer experiences throughout the Sognefjord region.
We’re passionate about sharing the breathtaking landscapes, fascinating history, and local culture of our region, giving our guests an authentic Norwegian adventure to remember!
Where are you located?
Adventure Tours Norway is located at Skjolden Marina, in the beautiful village of Skjolden, at the innermost part of the Sognefjord in Western Norway.
Our meeting point is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Skjolden cruise terminal, making it convenient for guests arriving by cruise ship.

How early should I arrive before my tour?
Please arrive at our meeting point at Skjolden Marina at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure.
This allows enough time for check-in, safety instructions, and preparation of any necessary equipment.
Our tours operate on scheduled departure times, so we kindly ask all guests to arrive punctually to avoid delays.
Is parking available?
Yes! Free parking is available for Adventure Tours Norway customers at Skjolden Marina.
If you’re arriving by car and require parking access, please contact us at least one day before your visit and provide your expected arrival time so we can arrange access through the gate.

How can I get to Skjolden?
Skjolden is located at the innermost part of the Sognefjord and can be reached by car, public transport, or cruise ship.
Travelling by car is a wonderful way to experience the spectacular landscapes of Western Norway.
Public transport connections are also available, although services may be limited depending on the season and day of travel.
For updated routes and timetables, we recommend checking Vy or Skyss before your journey.
Are there toilets and changing facilities available?
Yes! We have a toilet facility at Skjolden Marina, exclusively available for Adventure Tours Norway guests.
The facility is also spacious enough to be used as a changing room, particularly for guests participating in our Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) activities.
For RIB adventures, we have a designated area where guests can put on their flotation suits. There is no need to change out of your regular clothing, as the suits are designed to be worn over your clothes.
We recommend arriving already dressed appropriately for your chosen activity to ensure a smooth and comfortable check-in experience.
