Adventure Tours Norway is a local tour operator located in the most inner parts of the Sognefjord. Our main area of operation is the unique Lustrafjord by our home base in the town of Skjolden, but we offer experiences in the whole of Sognefjord for you to enjoy. We strive to show our guests the unique nature of Norway’s longest fjord, and to give our guests an insight on the culture that has been shaped around it.
How can I reach your base town, Skjolden?
There are several ways of reaching Skjolden. Your choice depends on if you want a time efficient alternative or want the road to get here to be an experience of its own:
Oslo airport (OSL) to Skjolden
The most time efficient way to get from Oslo Airport to Skjolden is through the domestic airline Widerøe to Sogndal Airport (SOG). From Sogndal Airport you can either rent a car and reach Skjolden in around an hour, or you can take the local bus through Skyss.no.
The cheaper, but more time consuming alternative is to take the bus from Oslo airport to Sogndal bus station with the bus company Vy.no and then take a bus from Sogndal bus station to Skjolden with the local bus company Skyss.no
Bergen airport (BGO) to Skjolden
Just like from Oslo airport, the most efficient way of getting to Skjolden from Bergen airport is through our domestic airport Sogndal (SOG)
Consider renting a car from Bergen airport as the road to Skjolden is very scenic
Alternatively there is a very scenic fast boat you can take from Bergen to Sogndal

Can I book a private and tailor-made tour/itinerary?
Yes! Send us a request here for a consultation and we will do our best to provide the adventure you seek. The pricing for these exclusive tours varies, and are usually more expensive than our scheduled tours.
How do I get from the cruise pier to your location?
You can simply walk from the cruise pier to our base in Skjolden. Follow the only road along the fjord for 400 metres (towards the town center), and you will pass by our stand on your way. For most people this is between a 5-10 minute walk. Remember to meet up 20 minutes prior to the tour departure. NB! If you have booked through the cruise ship, meeting point is outside of the cruise ship terminal – contact your cruise line for more information.
What are your cancellation policies?
Cancellation 7 days before gives a 100% refund of the package/tour cost, or no invoice.
Cancellation 6-3 days before gives a 50% refund of the package/tour cost.
On rare occasions with strong wind and pouring rainfall, we cancel the tour with a full refund to the customer.
Are your RIB adventures safe?
We focus on the nature experience during our RIB boat adventures, and not the speed. We always focus on the safety on board, and that all passengers feel comfortable and safe during the RIB Adventures. All passengers must wear a warm flotation suit and life jacket during the tours. We have never had people falling in the water, and our guides are local known and has all the necessary certificates.
Our cruising speed is 30-35 knots, and the inner parts of Sognefjord is sheltered from high waves from the sea.
What clothes do I need to bring for your RIB tours?
While we provide warm flotation suits, hats, gloves and googles on all of our tours, depending on the weather you might want to bring some extra clothes with you. During warm summer days most people will be okay only wearing a t-shirt underneath their flotation suit. In the early and late months of summer its best to bring with you a sweater just in case. We have safe lockers at our base you can leave anything you don’t need while on our tours.
Can I bring a camera with me on the boat?
While we are not responsible for any damages that may happen to your camera, we have never had an incident where a camera has broken. The vast majority of days in Skjolden bring calm waters with little to no chance for waves to hit your camera.
I have a health condition and unsure if I can join
We try to make our Fjord RIB Adventures accessible for everyone, and there is very little physical strain required from you during the tour. Those with a history of back injury should reconsider joining our tours during the most stormy days. Luckily, 99% of times, we have good conditions on the water, and you can cancel your tour with a full refund up to 7 days in advance. Send us a mail, or call us if the forecast looks bad and you’re not sure if you should go. Also, off course always check with your local health provider if you’re unsure if you can join due to a health condition.
Who are your guides?
We are all locals living in the area and are passionate to share with you the place we call home. We all have the certificates needed for driving RIB boats, which is being refreshed regularly. You can read more about us here.
